Train that 'floats' across dam is an unlikely hit with tourists

Tourists are going crazy for selfies on a “floating train ride” at Thailand’s longest dam.

The train appears to be gliding as it rolls along the tracks at the Pasak Jolasid Dam in Lopburi province, around 100 miles (160km) north of Bangkok.

Hundreds of tourists are now cramming onto the daily trains rides, which are only open for two months a year and will finish on January 26.

Footage from December 1 shows how the burgundy, white and yellow locomotive glides round the corner of the three miles (5km) long embankment dam.

Passengers can then take selfies and pictures of the landscape while the train stops for 30 minutes, before going back in the same direction.

The ride, called rotfai loi nam or floating train trips, leaves the Bangkok Railway Station (Hua Lamphong) at 7:10am and returns at 3pm.

It has become an unlikely attraction for domestic and international tourists.
