When Hans blows up the railway ahead of schedule by mistake, he, the Colonel, René and Yvette are arrested. Whilst everyone else is released, General von Klinkerhoffen arrives and demands that René is made an example of.René is on his way to blow up the railway, which Captain Goering has already destroyed accidentally. René is captured by General von Klinkerhoffen, who demands of Colonel von Strom that René be shot. Lieutenant Gruber is given command of the execution squad.
